The long-awaited collaboration between Joe Freshgoods and New Balance, which marks the return of the 1000 sneaker to the general public, has finally arrived. Called "When Things Were Pure", this collection of two pairs pays homage to the early 2000s, a period described by Freshgoods as the height of basement parties for them. Both designs feature iridescent detailing across their “Pink” and “Black” color schemes, with custom JFG branding on the toe and heel, while a flame graphic adorns the insole. An initial roundup for both pairs is open, closing on April 11 before the official launch on April 12 on joefreshgoods.com for $170 each. New Balance will then host its own release on April 19 at 10am.

UPDATE:

After being officially teased by Joe Freshgoods last month, his latest collaboration with New Balance is ready to launch. Serving as a reintroduction of the 1000 silhouette from 1999, it ushers in an exciting new era for the sneaker, with various online colorways already teased, including an "Off-White/Green" pair spotted a few days ago. While specific details have yet to be shared, the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 is expected to arrive next week in both their “Pink Mink” and “Black Ice” colorways.

After emerging via an in-hand preview last week, Joe Freshgoods has officially revealed its upcoming collaboration with New Balance 1000. Bringing back the retro sneaker, the “Pink Mink” and “Black Ice” colorways have been assembled, equipped with co- Special branding and details throughout. A specific release period has not yet been set, however, Freshgoods noted that it will launch sometime in April.

The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 collaboration comes after a busy 2023 for Freshgoods and New Balance, with the two having collaborated three times, producing the 610 and Rainer Boot "Beneath the Surface", the 650 "Stuntman" and an inspired trio from “Belly” by 990v4s. As for the 1000, Freshgoods joins Aimé Leon Dore as one of the first collaborative partners to be disclosed. Several inline colors are also on the way.

New Balance, with more than 115 years of history, continues to mark the world of footwear with its creations. In 2024, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the New Balance 1000, the brand is offering a modernized reissue of this classic silhouette, initially launched in 1999. This update was anticipated thanks to an announced collaboration with Joe Freshgoods, but others versions have also been revealed, promising a year full of new features for this model.

The latest version captured features a harmonious combination of off-white and green colors, enhanced with gray details. This palette is applied to an assemblage of varied materials, including suede, leather, and gray textile, providing an updated retro look. The off-white is found on the laces, the tongue, and the heel, and is also available in a semi-translucent form on the "N" logo located in the middle of the foot, framed in forest green. Green accents are also present on the toe, mudguard, and midsole, all sitting atop a black rubber outsole.

To date, New Balance has not yet officially announced the release date of the 1000 silhouette, including this version in off-white and green. The expected retail price is $150, and this edition is expected to be available after the collaboration with Joe Freshgoods launches later this month. Stay tuned for future updates.

This reissue of the New Balance 1000 perfectly illustrates the brand's ability to innovate while paying homage to its heritage. The off-white and green color combination promises to attract sneaker and fashion enthusiasts, offering a new interpretation of a beloved classic.
