At Samsung's latest Galaxy Unpacked event, AI was in the spotlight as the company unveiled its new line of mobile products.
The Galaxy Ring, presented at the Mobile World Conference 2024 and sold for $399, is a smart ring reminiscent of the Oura Ring. Designed for health, it collects personal data to track parameters like heart rate and sleep cycles. Weighing between 2.3 and 3 grams depending on the size, this ring is waterproof and offers a battery life of 7 days on a single charge. Available in silver, black and gold, it is made of titanium.
In the connected objects sector, Samsung has enriched its range of watches with the Galaxy Watch7 at USD 299 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra at USD 649. Just like the Ring, the Watch7 targets health enthusiasts with new AI-powered health and workout apps. The Race app allows runners to compare their current and past performance in real time, while an “enhanced BioActive sensor” measures advanced glycation end products (AGEs), providing an indication of biological aging and metabolic health.
The Watch7 is available in 40 and 44 mm, but for those looking for a larger and more robust model, the Ultra, with its 47 mm case in grade 4 titanium, is ideal. Designed to withstand extreme conditions, it operates from “500 meters under the sea to 9,000 meters above sea level” and has an emergency siren and a special night mode.
In the field of phones, Samsung introduced two new models of the Galaxy Z series: the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Flip6. The Fold6, which opens like a book, reveals a large interior screen ideal for working on the go, aided by AI features like voice transcription and sketch-to-image conversion. The Flip6, which opens vertically, divides the screen into two squares, allowing convenient and portable use. The Fold6 starts at $1,899 and the Flip6 starts at $1,099.
To accompany these new devices, Samsung also launched the Galaxy Buds3 series, with a standard and a Pro version of the wireless earbuds. Among their flagship features, Interpreter mode allows you to translate a foreign language directly into the user's ear. The standard Buds3 retail for $179, and the Pro version retails for $249.
