Art Basel Paris: dates, venue and editions since Paris+ (2022-2026)
Art Basel Paris is the contemporary art fair that Art Basel holds every October in Paris, at the Grand Palais since 2024. It was called Paris+ par Art Basel in 2022 and 2023, then took its current name in 2024. The fifth edition brings together 211 galleries from 41 countries and territories and was scheduled for October 23 to 25, 2026. On October 22, 2026, the management announced a closing on Friday, October 23 at 7 p.m., with no opening over the weekend.

Attendance is the organizer’s figure, VIP and public days combined. The number of galleries goes from 154 to 195 between 2023 and 2024, which is 41 more, with the move into the Grand Palais. The May 2024 announcement counted 194 galleries, the closing release 195.
Why Paris+ became Art Basel Paris
Paris+ par Art Basel was the name of the 2022 and 2023 editions. In late May 2024, Art Basel announced the name Art Basel Paris, at the same time as the arrival in the renovated Grand Palais. The organizer says it wants to reinforce its commitment to the city, and states that it consulted the Ministry of Culture, the City of Paris, GrandPalaisRMN and Parisian galleries. According to Hypebeast, the name also lines up with Art Basel Hong Kong and Art Basel Miami Beach, and removes the confusion the first name created.
The change coincided with three novelties in 2024: the Premise sector (nine galleries), the Emergence sector, which replaces Galeries Émergentes, and the Oh La La! initiative, where galleries show rarely seen works during the second half of the week.
The Grand Palais, the FIAC and the Champ-de-Mars
On January 26, 2022, the board of RMN-Grand Palais chose Art Basel, part of the MCH group, for the October slot at the Grand Palais, after a call for applications launched in December 2021. The contract runs for seven years. That slot had belonged to the FIAC, a fair run by RX France, which then kept Paris Photo in November.
The monument had been under renovation since March 2021, so the 2022 and 2023 editions were held at the Grand Palais Éphémère. Built for the 1900 World’s Fair, the Grand Palais reopened for the Paris 2024 Games, after works costed at 466 million euros. According to Art Basel, about thirty galleries take part for the first time in 2026 and more than 60 exhibitors have a space in France.
The October 2026 edition: status as of October 22, 2026
On October 22, 2026, the day of the paid vernissage, the management wrote to its guests that the fair would end at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 23, with no opening on Saturday, October 24 or Sunday, October 25.
The organizers cite the safety of visitors, exhibitors and artworks, in the face of demonstrations expected in Paris on Saturday, October 24. Holders of a Friday ticket can enter until closing. Those who had bought for Saturday or Sunday will be contacted directly. No refund terms were published in the articles consulted. Tickets and hours announced by Art Basel
Art Basel planned public days from October 23 to 25, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Grand Palais (avenue Winston Churchill, Paris 8th). Day ticket: €47. Reduced rate: €30. Friday 23 evening ticket, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: €40. October 22 vernissage: €120. These prices come from the 2026 press dossier and ignore the early closing.
