Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the Harry Potter television series will debut on the streaming service Max in 2026. During a financial call, CEO David Zaslav expressed his excitement for the Harry Potter series, scheduled for 2026. Zaslav noted that the last Harry Potter film was made over twelve years ago and committed to the future of the franchise.
“We made no secret of our excitement around Harry Potter,” Zaslav said. "The last movie was made over twelve years ago. I was in London a few weeks ago with Casey [Bloys, chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content] and Channing [Dungey, chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. . Television Group], and we spent some real time with JK [Rowling] and his team. Both parties are excited to revive this franchise. Our conversations have been great, and we couldn't be more excited about what's ahead ."
The Harry Potter series has been in development since 2021 and will air on what was formerly known as HBO Max – now simply called Max. She received a 10-year commitment from Warner Bros. Discovery and will be a “faithful adaptation” of the novels with an all-new cast. JK Rowling will serve as executive producer.
