Are you wondering what business school is really worth to become an entrepreneur? We tell you right away: this video will teach you much more. In ten years, I met my best friends in business school, and even if I have no regrets, let's be honest: the majority of courses do not help you become an entrepreneur. I'm going to share with you what I've learned as an entrepreneur and believe me, it's concrete.
1. Define your vision of entrepreneurship
When we talk about successful entrepreneurs, we often think of giants like Elon Musk, Xavier Niel or Tim Ferriss. Everyone has their own vision of entrepreneurship. Elon Musk, for example, is obsessed with performance and does not hesitate to sacrifice his personal life to achieve monumental goals. Xavier Niel revolutionizes education with Station F, 42 and Albert School, while Tim Ferriss favors freedom, even if it means sacrificing a promising business to follow his passions. Find your own vision of entrepreneurship and the type of business that suits you.
2. Work on your passion
The most common mistake is going into business for the opportunity. I made this mistake with my first board game business because it was trending on Amazon. Result: from the first difficulty, everything collapsed. By rediscovering my passion for coding, I realized that I had wasted two years for nothing. So, work on your passion and build your business around what you truly love.
3. Play for the long term
Entrepreneurship is not a speed race, it's a marathon. Those who succeed are often those who have been around for a long time, who continue to improve and persevere despite difficulties. Don't follow trends, but stay true to your vision and continually move forward.
4. Life as an entrepreneur: a single-player game
Entrepreneurship is often a solo game. You must be disciplined and know how to make decisions at the right time. The illusions of the entrepreneur surrounded by a large team who feel like family are often marketing. In reality, when difficulties arise, you often find yourself alone. This is why I chose to become a solopreneur, surrounded by creators who have become friends, without financial pressure or disagreements from co-founders.
5. The idea is not enough: problem equals solution
Thinking that you will succeed with a good idea is a mistake. What really matters is the ability to pivot and continually improve. Starting from a problem to find a solution is the key. Entrepreneurs who have already had a business are often better able to identify the real problems and respond to them.
6. Digital business vs physical business
Physical businesses have many more problems than digital businesses. As a solopreneur, it is almost impossible to run an e-commerce business alone. On the other hand, a digital business is much simpler and more secure.
7. Earn a living on the internet: instructions for use
To make a living on the internet, you need something to sell. Learn a skill on YouTube, then solve a problem for someone using that skill. Then, package all your knowledge into a single offer and find potential clients on platforms like LinkedIn. Create Evergreen content to attract prospects and master a form of advertising to reach more customers.
8. Entrepreneurship 3.0: barely more risky than employment
Today, becoming an entrepreneur is barely more risky than being an employee. Startup costs are almost zero, and if you have a monetizable skill, you will always have work.
9. Reliability: key to success
To succeed, be reliable. Reliability is often more important than raw talent. People prefer to work with people they can rely on, even if they are less talented.
10. Successful entrepreneurs are human
Don't think that successful entrepreneurs are perfect. They all have their flaws and their moments of doubt. What sets them apart is their passion, their obsession with efficiency, their curiosity and their focus.
11. Avoid administration
Simplify your life by avoiding complex administration. For me, moving to Portugal was a blessing, because everything is simpler and faster than in France.
12. Become a skill entrepreneur, not an idea
Focus on developing skills rather than chasing revolutionary ideas. A skilled entrepreneur builds his business around his skills, continually learns and improves.
13. Learn to sell
Content, code and sales are the keys to success in the 21st century. Learn to sell and you will be unstoppable.
14. Reverse engineer success
To understand someone's success, analyze their system and methods. Take inspiration from what works to create your own model of success.
15. Process obsession
Entrepreneurship is a game of perseverance. Believe in your process, continually improve and you will see results.
16. Become data-driven
Use data to guide your decisions. Analyze what works and what doesn't, and adjust your strategy accordingly.
17. Absolute Focus
Stay focused on your goal. Develop one skill at a time and persevere until you become an expert.
18. Controlling expenses
Control your expenses and invest intelligently in your business. Each euro invested must return double.
19. Surround yourself with healthy people
Surround yourself with people who share your vision of success. Avoid negative influences and create a support network.
20. Detach your time from your income
To scale your business, detach your time from your income. Create products or services that can be sold at scale.
21. Learn from the youngest
Never underestimate what you can learn from younger people. Their perspective and innovation can inspire you and move you forward.
22. Set yourself mini-challenges
Set yourself personal challenges to maintain your motivation and continually progress. Turn your wishes into realities.
23. Create your entrepreneur league
Surround yourself with people who understand what you're going through as an entrepreneur. A support network is crucial to lasting over time.
24. Prioritize health
Health is the foundation of everything. Eat well, exercise and take care of yourself to be in top shape.
25. Learn any skill
To learn a new skill, start with the big picture and then dive into the specific details. Practice as soon as possible and make your knowledge concrete.
26. Savor the small victories
Learn to savor every victory, big or small. Celebrate your successes and enjoy the journey.
