Understanding your “Red Sea moment”
The phrase "Red Sea moment" refers to the crossing of the Red Sea by the Israelites, as described in the book of Exodus. Fleeing slavery in Egypt, the Israelites found themselves trapped between the Egyptian army and the Red Sea. It was then that Moses, under divine direction, divided the waters, allowing the Israelites to cross.
In summary: this is the decisive moment where you have to choose between stopping or continuing. The majority will choose not to go. Everyone faces their “Red Sea moment” one day or another.
That’s when you go from being just an extra to what you’re truly meant to do. To many, this may seem like basic personal development. However, it makes perfect sense.
Ultra-skill: a distinct strength
If you're made for video editing, you'll be faster, spend more time, and produce better content than someone else who sees editing as just a business opportunity. This is what I call ultra-competent.
Ultra-skill is technical and needs to be developed. Those who don't find it naturally limit themselves, which often leads to average work, little motivation and a focus on money due to lack of meaning.
The consequences of not developing your ultra-competence
It is often wrongly believed that recruitment problems are due to a lack of available workers on the market. In reality, it is often due to a lack of adequate skills. Companies receive applications, but the profiles are not sufficiently qualified.
Those who have developed their ultra-skills generally choose to go freelance. This leads to a shortage of qualified talent for traditional businesses.
The entrepreneurial copywriter model: an alternative to freelancing
You can sell your ultra-skill by becoming independent, but you can also put it to use in a product. Here is a simple model:
- Choosing an ultra-niche : Find a niche that solves a real, ethical problem for people.
- Continue to develop your ultra-competence : Constantly perfect your skills.
- Master at least one acquisition channel : Use marketing methods to reach your target audience.
Concrete example
A year ago, I launched a site to help smokers quit smoking. Using the model again:
- Ultra-niche : Smokers who want to quit alone and naturally.
- Ultra-skilled : SEO and writing.
- Acquisition channel : SEO.
Find your niche
You have to find a niche that solves a real problem for people, a subject that matters and is ethical:
- Loneliness
- Health
- Addiction
- Ecology
Choosing a long-term acquisition channel
- SEO
- Social networks
The objective is to have a stable source of traffic (SEO) while building a tribe around the values conveyed by the brand, not just around the product.
Use your ultra-skill to create your product
- Accompaniement
- Consulting
- Ebook
- Paid Community
Two worlds: AI and web craftsmanship
Tomorrow, there will be two distinct worlds: that of AI and that of web craftsmanship. Anything in between will struggle to survive. “Bullshit jobs” clearly show this reality: many have become commodities due to lack of developing a useful ultra-skill.
If we stay too long in a model where we do not do what we are destined to do, the possibility of getting out of it is reduced:
- Comfort blinds us to alternatives.
- We can no longer take as many risks (credit, children, etc.).
Those who don't want to bother will jump on the AI. The others will remain somewhere in between, neither technical enough for the AI, nor effective enough in their unique skill.
Conclusion: Don't waste time
We waste too much time entertaining ourselves, thinking about what we could do but never do, imagining the worst scenarios fueled by negative news on social media. It's terrible because it makes us miss out on our lives.
To succeed, you must identify and develop your ultra-skills, choose an ethical niche, and master an acquisition channel. It is by adopting this approach that we can truly make a difference in the market.
