Have you ever imagined a place where fashion meets art in perfect harmony? Where each space tells a unique story, inviting visitors to a constantly renewed exploration? This is exactly what the new Dover Street Market (DSM) in Paris promises, scheduled to open its doors in May 2024.
Designed by Rei Kawakubo, the visionary behind Comme des Garçons, and Adrian Joffe. Together, they created a concept that challenges traditional shopping conventions, called “NEXT DSM is NEW CHAOS”. This new installation does not just present products, it offers an immersive experience where each brand has its own voice, while participating in a coherent and dynamic whole.
Rei Kawakubo has designed a space where the interior does not betray the exterior. The clothes, rather than being obviously attractive, are highlighted by arrangements which underline their singularity without imposing them. It is an invitation to discover, to feel rather than simply to buy.
Adrian Joffe, for his part, speaks of this project as a magnificent adventure made of challenges, discoveries and joys. According to him, DSM Paris is much more than a store: it is an experiment in not understanding the steps to come, a place that wants to be at the forefront of innovation in retail.
They hope that DSM Paris will be a place where the community can come together to experience and celebrate the diversity and beauty of fashion in a new and exciting way. The store will be a space without dedicated event spaces, where nothing inside will be visible from the outside, creating a mystery around what Joffe describes as a “spaceship of the store.”
