This collaboration is a true marriage of the creativity of Gentle Monster and the minimalist aesthetic of Maison Margiela. The eleven models in the collection are numbered from “MM001” to “MM011”, inspired by the numerical nomenclature used in the workshop of the French fashion house. The glasses come in classic colors such as black, white, gray, cream, clear and tortoiseshell, but with a touch of madness unique to Maison Margiela.
The MM001 and MM002 are minimalist and refined sports glasses from the 1990s and 2000s with the brand's logo appearing on the bridge and the house's four stitching on the arms of the glasses. Other pairs of glasses, like the redesigned cat-eye structure models, or the MM009 and MM010 which reinvent the traditional Wayfarer shape, letting the temples hang below the frame to create unusual right angles on the temples , demonstrate the inventiveness of the collaboration.
