In the dazzling world of fashion, luxury group LVMH recently announced the winners of the 10th edition of its prestigious Prize for Young Fashion Designers. The announcement was made during an awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 7 at the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
The victory of the 2023 LVMH Prize was won by Satoshi Kuwata, a Japanese fashion designer, for his remarkable work with his flagship brand, Setchu. Succeeding last year's winner Steven Stokey Daley, Kuwata impressed the jury, made up of a selection of influential artistic directors, as well as high-profile figures from the LVMH group.
Kuwata, who currently resides in Milan, Italy, will receive an endowment of 400,000 euros and benefit from a year of mentoring from LVMH on various strategic aspects, support which promises to propel his career to new heights.
The Karl Lagerfeld Prize was also awarded during this ceremony. Luca Magliano, an Italian fashion designer, received this award for his work with his namesake brand. However, this season the award was shared with a second winner, Julie Pelipas. Former fashion director of Vogue Ukraine, Pelipas is now the creator of Better, an eco-responsible fashion label. Magliano and Pelipas will both receive an endowment of 200,000 euros and a year of mentoring within LVMH.
This year's edition of the LVMH Prize attracted the attention of nearly 2,400 candidates from 15 countries, demonstrating the truly global nature and importance of this prize for the new generation of fashion designers.
