Valentino is partnering with Wanna, an augmented reality technology company part of the Farfetch platform, to develop a virtual try-on application.
Valentino is preparing to become the first luxury House to offer virtual ready-to-wear fittings using a demo application. The brand's customers will be able to view the Valentino pieces they would wear directly from their smartphone.
The Valentino VTO ( Virtual Try-on) WANNA Wear app and virtual try-on pilot project allows consumers to perform online try-ons on a special selection of items from the Urban Flows Fall 2023 collection, as well as the ValenTie tie, presented exclusively on the brand's website and from the BlackTie fall-winter 2023/2024 collection.
Improving the online customer experience with virtual try-on
The creation of this application addresses one of the main challenges faced by luxury brands in online sales: consumers want to try before they buy. With the Wanna Wear application, Valentino offers its customers the opportunity to virtually try on different clothes of various styles and to imagine themselves wearing them, "with the greatest realism", according to the words of Sergey Arkhangelskiy, CEO of Wanna.
By allowing customers to virtually try on clothes, Valentino promotes faster and more confident purchasing decisions.
“With the launch of the new virtual try-on category, we want to support customers in making informed purchasing decisions and increase the trust they place in our products.”
Sergey Arkhangelskiy, CEO of Wanna.
Virtual try-on also saves time for consumers, who feel less need to go to a physical store, thus promoting the brand's online sales. Not only can the customer purchase at any time, but they can also access a wider selection through the website.
This immersive digital experience could also help the brand reduce problems related to returns and exchanges by reducing the risk of dissatisfaction upon receipt of products. In other words, the virtual try-on application optimizes the overall experience, both for the luxury brand and for the consumer.
The Wanna Wear app is available for free on the App Store.
